A New Kind of Faith

Jesus taught a new kind of faith, a faith that is strong enough to move mountains yet is as simple as a seed is to understand and to operate. He called it ‘Seed Faith,’ and throughout the New Testament He demonstrated how this new kind of faith could raise the dead, feed the hungry and heal sick. To understand what the ‘seed’ is, one need look no further than to the Master himself. Jesus repeatedly taught that the mystery of the Kingdom of God is the ‘seed of the word’ of God. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus says ~ “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God… Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God” (Luke 8.10,11). The mystery, or the thing that people didn’t understand, is that the word of God is spiritual seed and is capable of growing up in the heart and producing the faith necessary to receive all of the promises of God.

Guaranteed in Blood

People have tried to have faith on their own, without understanding how to use the word of God like a seed to produce the ‘seed faith’ Jesus taught. We must now take a look at the New Testament as a legal document. It is a Covenant or a contract that Jesus has established between God and His children, a sworn attestation defining every aspect of God’s relationship with His children. This legal document is a binding deposition that is guaranteed by the blood of Jesus Christ and the very thrown of God itself. The New Covenant is the last Will and Testament of the Lord of lords and King of kings. In this sworn affidavit, God has delineated how His possessions are to be managed after His decease. He has decreed that the supply for every need of His children has been preauthorized1 and itemized in one or more of the promises.

God’s Delivery System

The only condition is that the promise must be received2 by faith. The Apostle Peter ratifies this truth stating ~ ”As His divine power has given to us all things that [pertain] to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption [that is] in the world through lust.” (2Peter 1.3,4). God’s method of administering his property is as practical as it is sagacious. Through His written word, He governs exactly what is given and who is capable of receiving it. Everyone knows that faith comes by the word of God. In the book of Romans, we read ~ “So then faith [comes] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10.17).

The Source of Divine Origin

So, let’s summarize; we see that 1) faith comes by the word of God (Romans 10.17), 2) the seed is the word of God (Lukas 10.11), and 3) everything is given through the promises/words of God (2Pedro 1.4). Now, it becomes obvious that when Jesus said to have ‘faith as seed,’ He was talking about how the seed of the word of God would produce the faith that does not doubt when it is planted and cultivated in the heart of the believer. We see, then, how the same promise [word] contains the faith within to reproduce itself in the life of the believer, just like a natural seed has the life within itself to reproduce itself when it is planted and properly cared for. Similar to a seed, the word of God contains the faith within itself necessary to produce whatever that particular promise says. In the same way, the life within a natural seed has the energy to produce whatever the particular genetics in that seed indicate.

Luke 8.10,11

And He said, “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest [it is given] in parables, that ‘Seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’ “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.”
