A Black Horse This Way Comes

The harbinger of the final seven years of the present age is a black horse, which according to the book of Revelation, is a global economic meltdown that will plunge the masses of the world into abject poverty and chaos. I’m not going to give you run-down of today’s financial headlines, but I will say that anyone who is even partially awake knows that this is very likely what is being presented, albeit stealthily concealed behind the recurring terms ‘New World Order,’ the ‘Great Reset,’ ‘Global Economic Reform,’ and the ‘Collapse of the US Dollar,’ which world leaders are employing in a cosmetic attempt to calm the peoples of the world, hoping to forestall far-reaching outrage and violent unrest in the streets. The black horse of the four riders of the apocalypse is a portent of the catastrophic plague of economic upheaval that will mark the beginning of the tribulation period foreboding the last seven years of the present age.

The Third Rider

The book of Revelation reveals that one of the first events to take place as the church enters the final epoch of tribulation is global monitory havoc as is signaled by the third rider of the apocalypse. ~ “When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine” (Revelation 6.5-6).

The Cup and the Dragon

There is a mystifying conundrum found in most Christian eschatological works, which will prove to be calamitous for multiplied millions. In volumes dealing with the end of the age, for some unknown reason, writers tend to ignore the rest of the New Testament as if the Antichrist had the power to annul it, or as if it were for some reason divorced from the apocalyptic events foretold in the books of Revelation and Daniel, leaving the believer with a cold numbing feeling that he is powerless against the Antichrist and his cohorts. We have good news for you. The Bible says the exact opposite. In fact, half way through the book of Revelation, it is recorded that believers will overcome the Antichrist himself by nothing less than faith in the promises of the New Testament. ~ “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death” (Revelation 12.11). Most Christians understand that ‘the blood of the Lamb’ mentioned here is a reference to the New Testament, and the ‘word of their testimony’ is their confession of faith in the blood-washed words contained therein. Who could forget the words He spoke on that night of His betrayal? ~ “For this is My blood of the new covenant…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Mt 26,28, Romans 10.9).

Faith vs Plagues

The first step is to understand that God has a plan and your part is to participate in that plan by faith in God’s promises of deliverance, just as it was required that the ancient Israelites by faith were delivered from the plagues of the wrath of God, which foreshadow the great plagues recorded in the book of Revelation ~ “By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible. By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them. By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned” (Hebrews 11.27-29). Everything God does works by faith on our part, and ~ ‘faith comes by hearing1 the word of God,’ particularly the promises of deliverance that pertain to financial stability in time of economic crisis. Jesus said — “According to your faith let it be to you” (Matthew 9.29).

Christ You & Abraham

The goal is to equip the believer to win the good fight2 on the stage of faith of the final great battle in the present age. Let us consider two things— 1) the believer’s income is part of God’s economic system, not the world’s system, and 2) like Abraham’s son Isaac, who prospered 100 fold in the midst of a dire depression, you are a legal partaker of the exact same covenant Isaac was. Your income is not based on the Central Bank; it is based on ‘God’s riches in glory.’ ~ “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4.19). Consider also…. ~ “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law… that the blessing of Abraham, the father of Isaac, might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith” (Galatians 3.13-14). Finally, as a New Testament believer, you are an active participant in God’s covenant with Abraham, just as Isaac was.

Investing in the Rapture

You have the same covenant Isaac did, and as your faith is developed you can free yourself from the world system and enter into ‘God’s riches in glory,’ where there never is a recession or hyper-inflation or a food crisis. Jesus said faith works like a seed.3 Begin now to sow the seeds of faith that will be necessary to get you though the coming global economic collapse, and if God should so determine also convey you through whatever else the beast system may throw at you before the rapture.

Genesis 26:1,12-13

There was a famine in the land…then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous.
