The dawning of each new day announces a fresh list of catastrophic events as the world seems to spin ever faster out of control. If it is not another mass shooting or new strain of virus, it’s hyper-inflation, extreme weather, or world war brooding on the horizon and foreboding the question—Who’s in control? The world often times appears out of control, and in fact many times it is. But why? Isn’t God in control? Frequently the legitimate question has been asked — if God is all powerful and Christ defeated Satan on the cross, why does the devil and the kingdom of darkness continue to command so much authority in the earth and over mankind? This is a very good question, and correctly understanding the answer to it will introduce great power and authority into one’s life. The answer to this question can be accurately explained in very few words.
God´s Eternal Purpose in Creation
The reason Satan continues to wield authority in the earth, even after the victory won by Christ on Mt. Calvary, is because after having defeated the devil and having regained all authority and power over him, Christ once again transferred all authority to man. Let’s look at the book of Hebrews ~ “What is man? —You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands. You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing [that is] not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him” (Hebrews 2.6-8). The resolution of the enigma lays in a correct understanding of what God originally created man to be. The purpose of the entire creation: the earth, the moon and the stars, is simply to house man. God created mankind to be the sons and daughters of Jahovah, and thus, set all other created things under the authority of man, including Lucifer and the angels. This is God’s eternal purpose in creation and constituted destiny for man, and this will never change.
God & Satan Operate Under Human Authority
God has united Himself to man in such an intimate way that if man loses, God also loses. ~ “And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16.19). The only way that God wins over Satan in the earth is when man wins over Satan. This is why the concerted work of the church is so important. Christians have abandoned the church and left the devil in charge…then they nonchalantly shrug their shoulders with their hands in their pockets. ~ “And He put all [things] under His feet, and gave Him [to be] head over all [things] to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all” (Ephesians 1.22,23). And this introduces the fact that the only reason why Satan can do anything on the earth now is because man is permitting him. Everything Satan and the fallen angels (demons) do, they do through human authority.
Taking the Place of God
It is man’s passive and ignorant collaboration with the devil that enables him to continue to operate on the earth. Imagine what would happen if a kingdom was given to an ignorant and rebellious child who refused to recognize his office of authority… it would be utter chaos. It is for this reason that Jesus ordered all Christians to ‘seek first the kingdom of God.’ To reign with God is serious work that requires endless hard work and learning. But they don’t do it. Instead, if they go to church, they seek their own comfort and self-interests first, not God’s kingdom. He said ~ “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6.33). Jesus taught that in the present age the kingdom of God suffers violence only because the kingdom has been made subject to men who refuse to take the place God has assigned to them and reign over the kingdom of darkness. ~ “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force” (Matthew 11.12). The main problem is not so much the devil, nor is it sinners; the largest part of the responsibility for the current crises in the earth are the Christians who have abandoned their responsibility, because the authority and power to act rests in their hands. Jesus said ~ “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10.19).
Why Jesus Became a Man
This explains the entire incarnation of Jesus. Christ never defeated Satan as the Son of God; He defeated Satan as the ‘son of man.’ Those who think that the cross was a war between God and the devil are completely deluded. Satan and all his cohorts would be instantly eviscerated if they ever tried to fight directly against God. Because God legally installed the first man Adam as the official authority over all of the earth, and Adam legally transferred to Satan the authority that God gave him, it was necessary that a duly qualified ‘man’ (Jesus) come and regain the authority that Adam gave to Lucifer. Let’s look at the first chapter of the Bible at the original ‘earth lease contract’ that God gave to man in the Garden of Eden ~ “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air…fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Genesis 1.26,28). Jesus confronted the devil as a sinless man born of a woman, overcame him, and then reinstalled the children of God as the ruling authority on the earth. The authority recommissioned to man on the earth solely operates through the church, which is how man is reinstituted as the ‘head of all authority and power.’ As long as Christians continue to view the church of God as a religious lounge, where they can relax and be entertained, the world will continue to be subject to Satan and the powers of darkness. Likewise, as soon as Christians understand the gravity of the role God has delegated to the church, stop playing religious games, and take their place as rulers in the Body of Christ over the earth, and learn how to reign, the enemy will be promptly subdued and subjugated. This is what Jesus was talking about when He said.
I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
