Three Elements of Passover—Part 2

Passover/Holy Week is the highest ordinance given to mankind, and the hidden meaning of the the ancient statutes contained in it is almost unknown today. The proper understanding and appropriation of the sacrament that took place the night the children of Israel were miraculously emancipated from Egypt demonstrates how this sacred celebration unleashes the fury and power of God against the forces of darkness, while at the same time endues the people of God with the outpouring of all of God’s goodness upon them. The partakers of Passover/Communion were blessed with silver and gold, all were divinely healed, and they received the title deed to the land of milk and honey. ~ “He also destroyed all the firstborn in their land, The first of all their strength. He also brought them out with silver and gold, And [there was] none feeble among His tribes” (Psalms 105.36,37).

The Church and Passover

The failure to understand the divine meanings unveiled in Passover has robbed the Church of her glory and power and left it blind, naked,1 and worst of all, powerless against a brutal enemy  who is pillaging her house and destroying her children. If there is one thing the Church needs more now than at any other time in the past 2000 years of church history, it is to rise up in power and deliver a decisive blow to Satan and his cohorts. It was the enactment of Passover that literally destroyed Pharoah, the evil king of Egypt, and his entire army in the Old Testament, and it was Communion that was the first step Jesus took to the cross that unleashed the brute force of God, destroying forever Lucifer and the legions of darkness, while at the same time securing the eternal destiny of all who would follow in Christ’s footsteps. ~ That through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil” (Hebrews 2.14).

The Last Day

We see that in accordance with the divine mandate, Jesus instituted Communion exactly in the middle of the orthodox Passover Feast on the same day He was crucified. There is no higher and more precise revelation of the cross than that which is revealed in communion. It must be remembered that the Jewish day begins at twilight, unlike in the West where the Grecian day begins at midnight. From the first chapter of the Bible, God has made it clear that day does not begin at the crack of dawn, but rather at the setting of the evening sun, at twilight. We read God’s definition of day and night in the first chapter of the Bible. ~ “God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So, the evening and the morning were the first day” (Genesis 1.5). This was the first and the last day— the first day of creation and the last day of the 33-year earthly life and ministry of the Lord.

Lucifer’s Destiny Sealed

The first step Jesus took the day He bore our cross was to celebrate Passover and in the middle of Passover Feast the Messiah inaugurated Communion, the New Testament version of Passover. It is widely accepted that the timing of Communion in the middle of Passover demonstrates that the two events are one. They are two de-codings of the same event. The monumental importance of what Jesus did the night he was betrayed cannot be overstated. The sacred Feast of Passover/Communion is the highest ordinance of God given among men, and the practice of it communicates nothing less than the power, wisdom, and majesty of the Cross of Calvary and the Resurrection from the dead, which is the epitome and the climax of the power of God against evil. ~ “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is theexceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power,” which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated [Him] at His right hand in the heavenly [places], far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come” (Ephesians 1.18-21).

Passover & Communion

The second of the three elements of Passover is unleavened bread. The Master constituted the first Communion service with unleavened bread. We know this to be true because the Passover Feast is eaten under strict order2 with unleavened bread. The word of God reveals to us that the spiritual meaning of unleavened bread is ‘pure doctrine,’ or unadulterated preaching and teaching of the New Testament. The blindness of the modern Church that has produced; according to the Bible, weakness, sickness,3 and death; is a product of misunderstanding and ignoring God’s commandment, which dictates that true Communion can only be celebrated4 with unleavened bread in the spiritual realm. ~ “‘Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread [and] with bitter [herbs] they shall eat it’” (Exodus 12.8).

1 Corinthians 5:7

Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.
