Man was originally created by God an immortal being. Through Satan, death entered the human race. Death is seeking to kill you, but you can put mortality to death before it brings you to the grave. The victory of the ages won on Mt. Calvary is the apex of the power of God on earth. This is the mystery of the cross. Never in his wildest dreams did Lucifer imagine that Christ could put mortality to death by death itself. As is written in the following verse, Satan is so afraid of those who understand and employ the ultimate spiritual weapon that he will literally stop trying to kill you. The Holy Spirit expressly writes that Satan would not have crucified Christ if he had understood the spiritual power that is now being unveiled to you. ~ “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden [wisdom] which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory” (1Corinthians 2.7-8).
This is not a game. Don’t wait until it is too late. Mortality is stridently pursuing your eternal demise — now following in the steps of Jesus, you must kill mortality through death before it kills you. The common misconception that death is the end of man’s existence must first be eradicated from the consciousness of serious-minded believers in order to understand how to employ the spiritual death blow to the enemy. Jesus Christ is ‘the way’ in whose footsteps all believers must follow1 that will eradicate the devil from their lives once and for all. ~ “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil” (Hebrews 2.14).
The Power of the Cross
The power of the cross is given to all who are tired of being harassed and attacked by Satan. First, we are reminded that ‘death’ is an eternal spiritual state; no one ceases to exist, ever. Every person is created in the image of God an eternal being and will never desist. The only difference is the quality of life in the present age and the location of their habitation in the life to come, the lake of fire or the presence of God. ~ “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9.27). According to the Bible, death is nothing more than eternal separation from God. It is a spiritual disease that consumes and torments spirit, soul, and body. However, anyone can follow the steps of Jesus and die to death, deliver a mortal blow to death before it deprives him anymore of health, happiness, and all things that pertain to eternal life. Paul spoke of this in the book of Galatians. ~ “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned” (Romans 5.12).
The Death Nature
Through the sin of the first man Adam in the garden paradise, the spiritual cancer of death has entered into the veins of every man, separating him from the life of God filling his life with sin, torment, and bondage. The power of the matchless blood of Jesus extinguishes the venom of spiritual death, which can only be received through the Holy Spirit in the new birth. Just as the type of human blood is determined by the father, so it is in the spiritual realm. Jesus spoke of this spiritual reality in the book of John. ~ “You are of [your] father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning” (John 8.44).
Freedom from Bondage
Until the believer is liberated from the nature of Satan, slavery to sin and the dominion of darkness will continue to rule his life bringing him into the bondage and torment of spiritual death. The hidden secret power of the cross that forever emancipated Jesus form all of the power of the kingdom of darkness and ushered Him onto the throne of God was only possible through death. The Apostles learned the mystery of the cross and employed it in the same way Jesus did to destroy the work of the serpent.
Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the [life] which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
- John 14.6
