The advanced technological sophistication of the age in which we live is comprised of countless billions of tiny details. The endless bombardment of miniscule options frequently leads one to question whether the benefit is in fact worth the stress it entails. However, overlooking one of these fastidious trifles can sometimes prove to be costly. This is what happened to Moses, one of the greatest men in the Bible. Heartbreaking indeed it was when what appeared to be almost an incomprehensible technicality barred the man, who led the children of Israel to the promise land, from entering into it, himself. God told Moses to ‘speak to the rock,’ and like most of us, Moses didn’t understand the monumental consequences foreshadowing this seemingly unimportant element of God’s instructions. However, God saw it from an entirely distinct perspective.
God the Rock
God is the Rock. When the believer speaks words of Faith to Him in prayer, He hears and grants the request. In the same way that God taught Moses to speak words of faith to the rock, He has instructed all His children to ‘speak to the Rock.’ God said to Moses ~ “Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water” (Numbers 20.8).
God Is the Only True Rock
This is the prayer of faith, which Jesus taught in Mark’s Gospel, chapter eleven. ~ “So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive [them], and you will have [them]” (Mark 11.22-24). Jesus was telling His disciples that God is the only ‘true Rock,’ and that all other rocks, whether they be huge heavy mountainous problems or other issues, such as sicknesses that appear to be difficult or impossible to move, or family problems that seem to have no solution, will submit to Him in prayer and move out of the way, when they are spoken to in faith. God is the only true rock, and all other ‘rocks’ (mountains) are under Him and must submit to Him. ~ “He only [is] my rock and my salvation; [He is] my defense; I shall not be greatly moved” (Psalm 62.2).
Water Out of The Rock
God literally stands upon all mountains of adversity. When the words of Jesus are obeyed, and the child of God ‘speaks to the mountainous obstacles in his life in faith, God is standing there on top of that mountain, listening to the words of faith spoken by His child and grants that the mountain should be ‘removed and cast into the sea.’ Notice what God said to Moses, when Moses was instructed to bring water out of the rock. ~ “Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel” (Exodus 17.6).
God is the Eternal Rock of Ages. All other rocks are under God’s feet and must move when they are spoken to in faith. This is why Jesus said to ‘have faith in God when you speak to the mountain.’ ~ “So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain…” Mark 11.22,23). When the Christian speaks words of faith directed at an inanimate object, like a mountain, God hears him and grants his petition. We know that God hears every word that is spoken; moreover, words spoken by faith in Him are treated as prayers of faith because He has granted and ordained that His children so speak. Jesus said, ~ “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive” (Matthew 21.22).
In the Name Of Jesus
This is exactly how the disciples understood Christ’s teachings on faith and how they put them into practice. Have a look at Peter healing a lame man by speaking faith filled words to God the Rock in the book of Acts. ~ “Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth [hour]. And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple…Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted [him] up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them––walking, leaping, and praising God” (Acts3.1-8).
According to His Faith
Peter prayed the prayer of faith. He spoke words of faith directly to the point of need, and the man was healed. Peter didn’t ask God to heal the lame man, for him. No, he did what God told him to do. He spoke words of faith to the sick man. He used ‘his’ faith to solve the problem, and God granted it to be done according to his faith. With God, things are always done ‘according to one’s faith.’ ~ “Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you” (Matthew 9.29).
Then He Healed All
This is what Jesus taught. He healed people using the same method He wants you to heal people by. Christ’s method of healing was comprised of two steps. First, He preached the word of faith to the sick because faith comes by hearing² the word of God, then He healed all those who had faith to be healed. Let’s have a look at how Jesus healed people. ~ “But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour” (Matthew 9.22).
Develop Faith to Receive
Here is another example of how for the organized church has drifted away from scripture. Most don’t even believe in healing, and the others practice faith without first preaching the word of faith from the Bible, so the individual can develop faith to receive their healing. They yell and scream and lay hands on people, but they don’t teach the word of faith. It must first be taught that words of faith spoken to the Rock (prayer) in Jesus name will heal the sick

Then Joshua spoke to the LORD…and he said in the sight of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge Upon their enemies. [Is] this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go [down] for about a whole day.
