It had ruined her life. All of it. Everything seemed to have secretly conspired together against her since her earliest memories… the school years, her parent’s horrible marriage, the betrayal of those false ‘friends,’ and then most of all the men in her life, who had only seemed to use, abuse, and betray her when she needed them most. “Am I cursed?” her heart screamed out to God. “What did I do to deserve all of this?” mourned her broken spirit as tears dripped down her nose again and fell upon that dress that she had to wear for lack of money to buy something better. An Innocent Daughter All of it was so mixed up, so messed up, she could no longer think straight. Her thoughts had no sense of order or reason. They just seemed to dizzy her, shooting across her mind uncontrollably without any kind of coherency.…

He is someone they have never met. They analyze, adulate & worship Him, but they do not know Him. They can quote every scripture in the Bible about loving God, yet they have no intimate relationship with him. When they say they ‘love’ God, they are in love with their own mental images of God, not with the first person of the Trinity. They can tell you everything that God said in the Bible, but they don’t know what He said to them last night. They can’t discern between the voice of God and the voice of their own thoughts because they have never been in His presence long enough to distinguish His voice. Jesus said this would be the fateful demise of the last generation on Judgement Day. He said, ~ “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast…

God is all around us all the time. He has made Himself accessible to us 24/7, yet few of His followers ever really enter into His presence. They will traverse hundreds of miles and make large expenditures to hear a conference about God, but will not take two steps to hear God. They will spend countless days reading books on God, but will not spend ten minutes in His presence. Each individual determines his relative proximity to the Father by the way he chooses to use his mind. The Bible mentions this in the Gospel of Matthew ~ “Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind” (Matthew 22.37). Most people have the idea that God gave them a mind so they could use it as their own private entertainment center or to simply make…

Undeniably one of my greatest accomplishments, the process was long, in my case almost four years; however, with the right help the amount of time could be reduced to a month or two. Circumstances had provided a 1-year interval to be dedicated to prayer and fasting almost without interruption. All living accommodations were taken care of including cooking and cleaning, essentially, and my only responsibility was to preach a Sunday message and attend a few other small details. I gave myself wholly to fasting and prayer and Bible study for one year. Two days were all it took for me to exhaust all of my personal petitions and requests to God. Within a week, it became increasingly clear that by far the largest and most important part of prayer is not talking to God, but rather it is God talking to you. ~ “I will stand my watch and set…

As much as the spirit of man is more profound than the body, so the heart of man experiences unspeakable pleasure or torment beyond that which words can express. Most of the world’s attention and resources is focused on physical comfort, while little or nothing is directed to the real state of his being, his spiritual state. Fortunately, in most countries of the world, the basic material needs of the earth’s seven billion inhabitants have been met. Physical suffering is at its lowest level in history, while spiritual anguish and disillusion soars continually to new all-time highs. No one knows this better than the pharmaceutical giants whose dividends continue to rocket to new highs fueled by the ever expanding sale of anxiety meds. The Grieving Masses According to a report released by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), the rate of antidepressant use in the USA increased by almost 400%…

The process by which the mind is renewed reveals the genius of the New Testament and the intimate working of Jesus Christ in the life of the believer. We have already seen that man is a three-part1 being: spirit, soul and body; and in the book of Romans the Holy Spirit declared that the heart of the New Christian is ‘recreated’ by God, but the ‘renewal’ of the mind and the management of the body pertains to man. ~ “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what [is] that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12.2). Notice from this verse that God has given the believer the option to be conformed to the state of the first man – the man, Adam. Also, he says ~ “do not be conformed to this world,…

Twelve long years had passed since the nightmare began. Like a photograph that she could not expunge from her mind, that first day the hemorrhaging began weighed heavily in her mind. Not only had it terminated the job she loved so much, it then proceeded to slowly devour all her money and possessions until everything she owned was gone. The promises of healing by those greedy ‘doctors’ disappeared like dew on a sidewalk on a hot summer morning. She ~ “…had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse” (Mark 5.26). Breaking the Grip of Fear However, a few weeks ago, a certain preacher had come to town, and she felt something new in her heart as she listened to him. At first, she wasn’t sure what exactly it was. Was it as dream? Gradually, she discerned…

The state of one’s heart is the state of one’s self. Learning to care for the heart is learning to care for one’s self. The Bible says that man is a-three-part being in the book of 1Thesalonians ~ The God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body” (1Thesalonians 5.23). Too often attention is focused on the body and the soul, while a successful life requires care of all three parts of the human condition. The most important part is the heart, the human spirit. Few people think about the state of their heart until it is severely wounded or broken. The book of Proverbs says ~ “Whoever has no rule over his own spirit [Is like] a city broken down, without walls” (Proverbs 25.28). The ‘walls’ that are mentioned in the forgoing verse refer to protection — for thousands of years the main…

If there is one thing that God teaches us in the Bible, it is that He is superior in power to the enemy. Words are spiritual forces. Every word that is spoken impacts the individual’s spirit. Most people have never been informed properly as to the role that words play in the spiritual realm, consequently the enemy has been able to use their tongues as a weapon against them. Look at this verse from book of Proverbs ~ “A wholesome tongue [is] a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit” (Proverbs 15.4). An uncontrolled tongue will not only ‘break’ your spirit, it will also ‘deceive’ your spirit, to the point that you are unable to discern the difference between when God is speaking to you or when the devil is speaking to you. The book of James says ~ “If anyone among you thinks he is religious,…

Don’t lose your healing miracle by failing to understand the meaning of the miracle that God has blessed you with. Most people just take what they can get and run, but Jesus insisted that His disciples not only discerned when a miracle had taken place, but also understood the meaning of each miracle. The Gospel of Mark says ~ “For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened” (Mark 6.52). Religious Doctrine Destroys the Heart All of God’s miracles are done to teach men more about the nature of God and the method of God’s dealings with the children of men. The miracle dinner in the desert for the five thousand people who had followed Jesus far out of the city to hear Him preach is rich with hidden Revelation. Notwithstanding, before the meaning of the miracle is addressed, it is important to understand what the…

How many times have your heard it!… someone barks—‘Faith is blind.’ Usually, the person is well intentioned and actually trying to articulate a half-truth. What he means to say is that faith does not look at circumstances or obstacles. Notwithstanding, to say faith is blind is not only a lie, it stymies those who are trying to live by faith from achieving the biblical goal. Faith works by vision. If you vision is not defined, faith has nothing to produce. Too often the family of faith spends all of its time building faith without ever developing a clear vision for faith to produce. Vision is what puts faith into action. Look at the words of the ancient prophet Habakkuk. ~ “Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make [it] plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it” (Habakkuk 2.2). So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth” (Genesis 6.5-7). One of the remarkable attributes of this passage is that Jesus said it is a picture of what…

God has sent the Holy Spirit with the specific commission of making sure that each one of His children overcome every attack of the enemy as well as all human error and weakness. It is disconcerting to see how many Christians who cannot understand the Bible and continually fall victim to every trick of devil only because they have never been introduced to the Holy Spirit. The New Testament is the most magnificent document ever written. It reveals that the ministry of the Holy Spirit functions as ‘The Department of Human Resources’ of the Kingdom of God. The Spirit’s ministry serves as God’s insurance policy that in the New Testament all of God’s children who are sincere and pure of heart will successfully win the “good fight1 of faith” in this life and inherit eternal life in the age to come. Jesus made an astonishing statement about the Holy Spirit…

Not only does the suffering of a sick mind choke the life out of a person, a wounded and exhausted soul cannot function properly bringing on unforeseen circumstances. The mind and soul, like a broken leg or an infected lung, cannot perform their daily tasks, which eventually complicate life further only making things worse, augmenting the sickness and suffering even more. This vicious cycle is at work in the life of thousands of God’s children every day, stealing their joy and rendering them too weak to fight the “the good fight1 of faith.” The Bible teaches the importance of maintaining a healthy and strong mind. Have a look at the words written by the ancient prophet Isaías. ~ “The whole head is sick, And the whole heart faints. From the sole of the foot even to the head, [There is] no soundness in it, [But] wounds and bruises and putrefying…

The dawning of each new day announces a fresh list of catastrophic events as the world seems to spin ever faster out of control. If it is not another mass shooting or new strain of virus, it’s hyper-inflation, extreme weather, or world war brooding on the horizon and foreboding the question—Who’s in control? The world often times appears out of control, and in fact many times it is. But why? Isn’t God in control? Frequently the legitimate question has been asked — if God is all powerful and Christ defeated Satan on the cross, why does the devil and the kingdom of darkness continue to command so much authority in the earth and over mankind? This is a very good question, and correctly understanding the answer to it will introduce great power and authority into one’s life. The answer to this question can be accurately explained in very few words.

Peter, the disciple, raised the dead1 just like Jesus taught him to. How did get such faith! Christians today have no faith because they don’t follow the simple, practical, common sense steps Jesus used to teach His own disciples faith contained in the Bible. Jesus’ method of building faith was to obligate His disciples to live by faith every day. He ensured that the twelve disciples exercised their faith every day by removing the usual things people employ to substitute true faith, like money for example. Let’s have a look at one typical day in the classroom of Christ’s school of faith as He sends out His disciples to preach the Gospel. ~ “And when He had called His twelve disciples to [Him]…These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying…’Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons…

It is time for those who are spiritual among us to sit down, but not just anywhere. I want you to find your throne, take your place on it, and get to work, reigning in life as scripture says. Numerous times the phrase ‘Jesus sat down’ appears in the Bible. The significance of what is meant by these simple three words is monumental for every believer. Let’s have a look at what the book of Hebrews has to say about this expression. ~ “Now [this is] the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens” (Hebrews 8.1). The Completed Work So, what does it mean when it says that ‘Jesus sat down’? Let’s have a look at another example in the book of Colossians. ~ “If then you…

When the disciples tried unsuccessfully to cast out a demon that had made a child sick, they asked Jesus ~ “Why couldn’t we cast it out?” Jesus answered them… “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you” (Matthew 17.19-20). In this and other similar passages of scripture, we learn several highly important spiritual concepts. First, that many diseases are caused by demons. This is why medical science has no idea as to the origin of disease. ~ “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (Acts 10.38). Light is the source of all life in the natural world, and so it is in the realm of the Spirit. Light produces life, and darkness produces death. The Bible calls believers “children of light.” ~ “You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness” (1Thessalonians 5.5). This means that the children of the Kingdom of Heaven are children of ‘revelation knowledge,’ children of the revealed word of God. However, as time draws continually closer to the return of Christ, spiritual darkness grows ever more obscure. The Bible says that the last days of the present dispensation will be characterized by thick spiritual darkness. ~ “The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD” (Acts 2.20). He was born in a manger, so we could be born into heaven. He had no earthly father, so we could have a Heavenly Father. God does not expect us to make ourselves holy. God is the one who makes us holy. He is the one who delivers us from our sins and enables us to live free from sin. The Bible says that we are His ‘workmanship;’ we are a product of His actions, of His doing. ~ “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2.10). He was ‘un-offendable.’ Even to the point of driving nails into His hands ~ “Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do’” (Luke 23.34). Much is written about this subtle device of the enemy; notwithstanding, it is so common among Christians that most people simply presume it is ok because they see so many others practice it. Nonetheless, in the spiritual realm it is a lethal weapon by which the enemy is able to administer deadly poison directly into the heart of those who are unaware. ~ “Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2Corinthians 2.11). God has not only made spiritual growth easy; He’s made it enjoyable. In fact, He’s made it ‘a piece of cake.’ After all, what is easier and more enjoyable than eating food. It’s something marvelous that most people never think about, yet nothing reveals more impressively powerful truths about the spiritual life, while plunging the believer into a new, deeper and clearer relationship with God. There is no other religion on earth that is primarily built around food than that of Christianity as set forth in the Bible. Constant progress goes hand in hand with spiritual growth. There is no box big enough to contain a healthy Christian. However, even the greatest faith warriors have come upon small places in life at one time or another. There is a big difference between being in a small place and letting that small get inside of you. It’s all about breaking barriers and removing limitations, refusing to conform to those small places in life. Complacency not only breeds depression and remorse, it is the fountainhead of unbelief, the only unforgivable sin. All sins are forgiven by faith, except the sin of unbelief. Speaking of the Holy Spirit, Jesus said ~ “And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin…because they do not believe in Me” (John 16.8-9). The life of faith compels the believer into a life of victory, and there is no victory without a fight.…

Jesus Himself recognized the fact that some people have small1 faith and others large2 faith. Numerous times He said His own disciples had small faith. Why is it that some have great faith, and others don’t? Since, everything depends upon faith, it doesn’t seem fair. Most believers have more faith than they think; their faith only seems small because they don’t use it effectively.  Faith is a spiritual substance, a spiritual force. To be effective, it must be concentrated and focused on the target. Similarly, shooting off bullets all day into the sky is of no avail. To be useful, a weapon must be aimed at its target. God is the Rock. When the believer speaks words of Faith to Him in pray, He hears and grants the request. In the same way that God taught Moses to speak words of faith to the rock, He has instructed all His…
